What is mindfulness?

Attention, intention, emotion, and regulation are the four components of mindfulness, which is a mental state of awareness. It’s the capacity to fully experience the present moment without passing judgement or making comparisons. You become conscious of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours when you practise mindfulness. You are conscious of your surroundings and the events taking place all around you. Additionally, you are conscious of your feelings, ideas, and physical experiences. Being in a mindful state of mind enables you to be momentary and non-judgmental. This indicates that you aren’t worrying about the future or reflecting on the past. You’re present-focused, which is something we could all need more of. We should all work to cultivate a thoughtful attitude. It can assist us in overcoming obstacles in life, enhance our mental health and improve our overall well being.

How to practice mindfulness

The easiest way to get started with mindfulness is through breathing exercises. Breathing is a great way to calm your thoughts and stress level, and it can be done anywhere and at any time. There are tons of apps and websites that offer breathing exercises to help you practice mindfulness. When you’re first starting out, it might be best to practice mindfulness at home. I love to do meditation before I go to bed and get myself connected with voice of Micheal Sealey’s guided meditation. Start by sitting in a quiet place with your eyes closed. Try to clear your mind of all thoughts and focus on your breathing.

As you get more comfortable with practicing mindfulness, you can bring it into your daily life. When you’re walking, you’re in control of your thoughts and actions. Try to focus on your surroundings and clear your mind of any thoughts.

Journaling is another great way to incorporate mindfulness into your life. Journaling helps you gain clarity on your thoughts and emotions. Once you write down what you’re thinking, you can more easily let it go. Even hiking is a great way to get some fresh air while practicing mindfulness. It’s a low-key activity that can help you clear your mind.

Reading is another great way to relax and practice mindfulness. When you’re reading, you’re not thinking about anything else. This helps you clear your mind and unwind. (to be continued )
